February 2019

Dear Fellow Members,

I hope this letter finds you in good health. We are in winter now, but our days are getting longer.  And the Patriots are in the Super Bowl!

I’d like to bring you up to date with winter events. The Winter Festival was a great success.  Approximately 1500 people attended.  Many town organizations joined us to make this a real community raising event.  I hope you saw some of the articles in The Town Crier, Wellesley Weston Magazine, and Weston Neighbors.

January’s Speaker Series “Re-entering the Workforce” was an insightful discussion on issues for women’s seeking to jumpstart their careers. It was a great morning hosted by Claire and Kelly.  Dining Around’s venue changed to Fiorella’s in Concord.  Great feedback thanks to Lee’s testing beforehand!

For February, Leslye and Colleen have organized the “Winter Chill Cocktail Party” at the Weston Golf Club.  The appetizer menu looks scrumptious! Should be a fun evening and hope you can make it. The Garden Club will be making valentine floral arrangements for Seniors at Sunrise.  It will be a rewarding, fun morning.

No news yet regarding the Clothing Exchange.  We’ve been told that we can stay until June, but it now appears that the “Friends of JST Proposal” will not be on the May Ballot. We are still investigating other locations, but nothing has been confirmed to date.  Please keep your ears open and let us know if anyone hears of any options!

Finally, the Clothing Exchange needs volunteers.  I can’t stress enough that this is our major source of income for Service and Scholarship.  Come join us for a few hours - there’s nothing like giving back!  And, we have a good time volunteering too!  The kitchen really needs help. Could you volunteer for approximately 4 hours on Tuesday in the kitchen?  Is your interest in another area?  Might you be able to spare a few hours in the marking room, Boutique, or clothing areas?  Whatever you can offer, we’ll gladly accept!  If you have the time, please contact myself or Adrian Proll or simply Sign Up Here.

Go Pats!

The Clothing Exchange is winding down its final season.  We are running on a skeleton crew with people sick, travel plans, etc.  Please review the attached sign-up genius and let us know how you can help.  We need help in both the kitchen and the Clothing Exchange. More hands helps things run smoothly and efficiently. Thank you in advance from the Clothing Exchange team.
