Dear Women’s Community League Friends,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer. During our summer hiatus, WCL members attended an evening at the Cape Cod Jazz Festival at Wequassett Inn in Harwich. The attendees are already requesting this become a yearly event!
I am energized as we begin the second half of our Centennial Year. Please Renew NOW!, if you have not already. We will be printing a Centennial Yearbook edition for members and I’d love for all our members to be included. Please review your profile and contact information by the end of September so that we have everything correct for the Centennial Yearbook.
We have a great year of programming ahead. You can always check the Event Calendar, but here are some exciting events to keep on your radar! September 17th is our Opening Coffee. I can’t wait to see everyone after the summer break. Come celebrate WCL’s 100 years at the Champagne Centennial Celebration on November 2 at the Weston Club. Don’t forget our Fall Social Event and popular Friendsgiving on Nov 14th. The Winter Festival is Sunday, December 8, 2019. Last year we had approximately 1500 attendees. There were members, families, and great collaboration between the Weston community organizations. Let’s make it even bigger this year!
Please welcome Mojgan Brumby as our new president of the Garden Club! Tune in for additional Home and Garden Events this year.
Sadly, last June was our last season at the Barn. This is a huge loss for WCL fundraising and the social connection that our “home” represented. Since we no longer have the Barn Café on Tuesdays, WCL reached out Weston Council on Aging(COA). The COA is offering us space every month for WCL luncheons. This will be great way to connect and keep our social connections in the Weston Community. The ever popular Dining Around will resume in the Fall.
We are excited to adjust and find new ways to reach out. How we adapt will further prove that WCL remains a strong, relevant, vibrant organization. Join a committee such as the Winter Festival Committee or Centennial Committee to best fit your personality and connect with us! The WCL mission is educational, social and philanthropic. We need volunteers! We welcome fresh ideas and perspectives on what our members want from the Women’s Community League. Please encourage your friends and neighbors to join us too!
Thank you for being a WCL member and I look forward to seeing you soon!
WCL President 2018-2020
